Bubba Watson, came to Pinehurst this week for the U.S. Open
Two-time Masters champion, Bubba Watson, came to Pinehurst this week for the U.S. Open hoping to join the list of players to win both the Masters and the U.S. Open in the same year. Through the years, he’s missed the cut but, the world’s third-ranked player has a better chance at winning a second major this year than any player so far as he’s already got one. "Any time you have that chance, it's been a good year, because that means you've done well early. A U.S. Open brings out challenges that we're not used to, challenges that we can only take once a year or we would all find new jobs if we had to do it every week," Watson said. We’ll find out over the next several days if Bubba is up to the challenges.

Submissions for the 2014 Ryder Cup poster design
To raise awareness of the Official Charities of The 2014 Ryder Cup: Quarriers, Friends of St. Margaret’s Hospital, Perth & Kinross Disability Sport and The McGinley Foundation, Ryder Cup Europe is holding a national competition and is inviting young artists and designers from across Scotland to submit their designs for the official poster of The 2014 Ryder Cup.

2015 Masters
The top four finishers (and ties) Sunday at the U.S. Open earned invitations to next year's Masters Golf Tournament at Augusta National in April 2015. Erik Compton, who couldn’t complete his quest to win the U.S. Open, tied for second with Rickie Fowler, behind winner Martin Kaymer. Along with Brooks Koepka, who tied for fourth, all earned a trip to the 2015 Masters.

World’s first Ryder Cup bank note
To celebrate Scotland hosting the 2014 Ryder Cup in September, Ryder Cup Europe and Royal Bank of Scotland have decided to commemorate the event with the world’s first Ryder Cup bank note. The Ryder Cup 2014, special edition, £5 bank-note design has been unveiled and will be available for purchase as part of an official 2014 Ryder Cup commemorative package which will cost £20. Printed on Hybrid paper and featuring a see-through window in the shape of The Ryder Cup, the note will also contain the signature of the Chief Executive of the Royal Bank of Scotland, making it highly collectable for golf fans and bank note enthusiasts alike.

Rory shocked with Pinehurst Visit.
Rory made a visit on Monday and Tuesday to find a different type of US Open golf course but we are a week away yet from a competitive shot being hit. No long rough? Wide fairways? Even had McIlroy asking was he on the right course? He is still struggling with a new injury picked up recently but liked what he saw at Pinehurst and can’t wait to get back when the competition starts.

Injuries hit US Open
Thomas Bjorn and Richard Sterne have had to withdraw from the US Open next week due to injuries. For Bjorn this is a major blow as he has been in some great form recently and was heading to Pinehurst in a confident mood.
